Professor Ali R. Montazemi
Ph.D., M.Sc, H.N.D

Keynote Title: Peril & Promise of Electronic Trading Systems

Ali is Professor of information Systems, and SAP-University Alliance Coordinator at the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University. He has served on the editorial boards of European Journal of Information Systems, Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences, International Journal of Applied Decision Sciences, and Information Systems & Operational Research. He is the Conference co-chair of AMCIS 2008 and has served on the organizing committee of numerous international conferences.

Professor Montazemi specializes in the design and development of information systems in support of business process effectiveness and efficiency. His research and consulting include business application of artificial intelligence, decision support system modeling and assessment, business process design through information technology, change management, human-computer interaction, and intelligent agents in support of e-business. He has received over $1.7 Million research grants and has published extensively in major international journals such as MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of Decision Support Systems, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Information and Operational research Journal, Journal of Operational Research Society, OMEGA Journal of Management, Journal of Computers in Industry, Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Education, Journal of Educational Computing Research, International Journal of Man-Machine Studies, European Journal of Operational Research. He has also published one textbook, three monographs, and three software packages. Professor Montazemi has a diverse corporate teaching experience, industrial research and consulting in Canada, U.S.A., South-East Asia, Europe, and Middle East.


Professor Malcolm Richards

R. Malcolm Richards (age 62) received his Ph.D. in Business Administration (Finance) from The University of Michigan (1974). He also holds a B.A. degree (Political Science) and an M.B.A. degree (Finance) from The University of Utah. Professor Richards currently serves as dean of the School of Business and Management at the American University of Sharjah. From January, 1995 through December, 2005, he served as director of the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, a $2.5 million center that serves the Texas real estate industry. He formerly served two years as Dean of the W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University. Prior to that time, he was Associate Dean for Administration and External Relations in the College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Business at Texas A&M University.

Professor Richards has served as a consultant and expert witness in the areas of valuation, corporate finance, and investments. He has participated in executive development programs and as a guest faculty member in training programs conducted by major corporations. He is active in community and church programs. He has served as a member of the Capital Improvement Committee for the city of College Station (Texas) and as a member of the Bryan/College Station Joint Block Grant Committee. He served as chairman of the Arrowmoon District of the Sam Houston Area Council and as the Training Chairman for the Quiver Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Results of Professor Richards' research have been published in the Journal of Business, Financial Executive, the Journal of Portfolio Management, The Financial Review, the Journal of Economics and Business, Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Management, Public Utilities Fortnightly, Best's Review, and other journals. He has co-authored a textbook on personal finance. His research has focused on the functioning of our financial markets, including: studies of the accuracy and usefulness of forecasts of corporate earnings, the valuation of closed-end mutual funds, the repurchase decision the process by which the market evaluates and reacts to new information, investor choice, and other issues. He has conducted feasibility studies for major projects both here and abroad. His international experience includes work in Thailand, Saudi Arabia, France, Russia, China, and the United Arab Emirates.
