Keynote Title: Commissioning Public Services: Multiple Perspectives - Lessons for E-Government Professor Trevor Wood-Harper holds a Chair of Information Systems (IS) and ‘Organised Activity’ Change at the Manchester Business School (MBS) having been recruited in 2003 to lead Information Systems & Management research and Doctoral Education at the new University created through the merger of Victoria University of Manchester and University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). He has been a professor for 25 years including visiting posts at: Copenhagen Business School; Georgia State University; University of Oslo; South Australia University, Australian National University, Australia and Napier University. Previously, Prof. Wood-Harper was the Foundation Chair in Information Systems at the University of Salford from 1990 and the Director of the Information Systems Research Institute where he led the unit from 1992-2003. Prof. Wood-Harper is currently an Associate Editor of the European Journal of Information Systems and member of the Editorial Board of the Information Systems Journal. Both rated in the top eight world-class IS journals where he publishes with the Editors-in-Chiefs. In 2008 he was awarded the prize for outstanding research from the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). Professor Wood-Harper’s broad research areas are Socio-Technical Systems Change and Action Research. He has published over 210 research articles and co-authored or co-edited 20 books. Wood-Harper’s AR papers have been cited almost 500 times and the 1998 paper is the second most referenced paper from the European Journal of Information. (Download Handouts) Keynote Title: Collective Intelligence and Culture Professor Sunk Joo Park is a Full Professor at the KAIST Business School, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. He was the former dean and Vice President of KAIST and served as the founding President of AAPBS (The Association of Asia Pacific Business Schools). He also served as board members of AACSB and GFME (Global Foundation for Management Education). He received Ph.D. at the Michigan State University in 1978 and worked for the KAIST since 1980. He is the one of the first scholars who launched eLearning initiative when he coordinated Virtual University projects at KAIST in the early of 1990s. During the 5 year research project, his team applied leading edge information technology to dramatically enhance the experience of students and academic staffs in teaching and learning. The KAIST Virtual University became the role model of eLearning projects in other Universities over the world and won numerous international awards including WfMC Excellence Award.
His major research interests include decision support systems, collective intelligence, cultural aspects in innovation and information systems. He is on the editorial board of Decision Support Systems and an the advisory board of J. of Operational Research Society, and published numerous number of articles on IS and OR journals including Decision Support Systems, Expert Systems with Applications, Omega, Journal of Intelligent Information Systems and Data and Knowledge Engineering, International Journal of Cooperative Information Systems. In particular, since 2000 his research interests focused on identifying unique features of management in Asian Companies. The foundation of AAPBS was the outcome of his long-term meetings and workshops with scholars in Korea, Japan and China to develop Asian specific business and management theories. He was an advisor or consulting professor for Samsung Group for 10 years including the companies like Samsung Corning, Samsung SDS, Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (R&D Think-Tank) among others. He was a member of Korean Presidential Advisory Council on Science & Technology and currently is a life-time member of the Korean Academy of Science & Technology. |
