Special Track (CEES and UbiPOL)

The special track “Citizen Oriented eGovernment Services” will present research outcomes from the two EU FP7 projects (CEES and UbiPOL) with different respected partners such as ‘Fraunhofer’.

CEES (http://www.iapp-cees.eu) aims to develop a citizen oriented evaluation framework for eGovernment services and is funded by EU Marie Curie program. The evaluation framework was applied for benchmarking eGovernment services in Turkey and will be applied to eGovernment services in the UK and Lebanon. The results from the Turkey case and its implications will be presented in the track.

UbiPOL (http://www.ubipol.eu) is an FP7 ICT funded project that aims to develop a persuasive mobile platform to increase citizen participation to policy making processes. The platform is being tested in the UK and Turkey and the initial evaluation results and system demonstration will be presented at the track.

Workshop - "Living Lecture"

The conference is also hosting a workshop led by Assistant Professor Fletcher Glancy of Lindenwood University (USA) on “Living Lecture” which focuses on the teaching and learning of IS content:

"A living lecture is a large group learning technique that maximizes the benefit of a lecture by involving the audience based on andragogy the art and science of how adults learn. Assigning listening teams (clarification, rebuttal, elaboration, and application) for the lecture creates a dynamic and vibrant experience for all participants. The living lecture topic relates to IS because it is about conveyance of information, confirmation of that conveyance, and convergence on knowledge; it is an application of media synchronicity theory. This technique is very effective both face-to-face and online and fits within the e-learning framework. Specific to this conference, the living lecture is about creating more effective conference presentations and higher education teaching and learning experiences for those who are professors/teachers/trainers of adults. The living lecture is not about IS content, rather it is about the teaching and learning of IS content in a conference or classroom setting".
